How to deal with racism #5: Stupidity

Some people are racist because they're just stupid. They go by stereo types and that's the end of their knowledge. They watched too many old black and white movies, they probably think cowboys dress in bright red and pink with hats tilted at rakish angles at all times. You're are docile and silent, why don't you wear feathers, beads or flowers in your hair? Maybe you're branded racist just because of the past. Seriously, because of your outside they might think you never saw television before, or you don't live in a house at all, that you didn't graduate from high school! They assume you can't make it to or through college. You're sitting at the bus stop late at night because your ride never showed, scared out of your wits that some weirdo is going to jump out and get you. Then comes along an idiot who treats you like the weirdo, but they're walking beside the weirdo. Do they deserve what they get? Maybe. If they're dumb, maybe not. Rid the world of stupid people? Well, you can't. They grow like fungus, having just enough brains to move their arms and legs.

And so, what to do? Educate. You don't have to be mean, shoot, you don't even have to talk to them. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well action is worth a million lectures. Besides, you can't reason with these idiots. You just have to show them that you're normal. And at the end of this education process, if they still don't get it, then yeah, they can walk home with the weirdo. There's your motto: One butt head at a time!

Some of these idiots need a sharp slap on their childish wrists and then suddenly they see the light and you can be pretty good friends with them. But that's few and far between. Some THINK they see the light, but still act strangely around you. They're ever so careful with their words, they think they'll make you cry! Poor little baby is so put upon! Such pity you never saw! It's so thick you can cut it with a knife. They start doing things for you, things you know you can do better. Now you're forced to act harsher than you want, more commandeering, more pushy, but for some, it doesn't matter. They're like rubber and nothing hurts it. You'll just have to go on with them, remembering that they really do have good intentions, so you don't go mad and wring their simpering necks.
